Lent 2009

Rainbow

This Lent we are thinking about God's promises.

We started on Sunday 1st March with the story of Noah and the flood and we thought about how God gave a rainbow as a sign of his promise to the world.

Our red arc has pictures of mountains, lakes and seas on it to remind us of the world.

We are also learning a new song week by week:
”Rise and shine and give God the glory...”

Next we added the orange arc and thought about God's promise to the people of the world.

We looked at living the covenant by keeping God's rules as we put rules on the yellow arc.

On Mothering Sunday we were in church and we coloured the green arc on our rainbow. We shall also put some flowers on to remind us that God gave us Mothers to help us keep his rules.

For the blue arc we added hearts to remind us that we should love one another as God loves us.

Palm Sunday saw us colour the indigo arc and add palm leaves and smiling faces as we heard the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey.

We finished on Easter Sunday with the violet arc and added Easter symbols such as eggs, new chicks and lambs, pebbles to remind us the stone was rolled away, flowers and candles as we celebrated that Jesus is alive again.
