Semiquavers
|
Welcome!Welcome to the Semiquavers! We are a choir consisting of young people aged between 7 and 17 years who love to sing and perform. We are based at Christchurch Gravesend, and take part in regular acts of worship (including all age services, usually the 2nd Sunday of the month) and concerts. We hope in the future to take part in choral competitions, workshops and concerts with other choirs and performing arts groups, and to play a part in Olympic celebrations in the local area in 2012. The choir is lead by Helen Osborne and Deborah Carter. Helen leads the Christchurch Music Group. She has taught music in Zimbabwe and conducted a winning choir in the Zimbabwe Eistedfodd and was then invited to adjudicate the following year. Helen is an accomplished musician, playing piano, flute, clarinet and violin, but also has a busy day job in London and is a mum to Tilly. Deborah is a singer who has sung in choirs all her life. She recently sang with a female barbershop quartet, but is now concentrating on her singing with The City of London Chamber Choir. They have sung at various cathedrals across the country including Westminster Abbey. Debbie has performed as a soloist for concerts in Gravesend, Bromley, Crayford, Dartford and Ypres in Belgium. She has also performed on the local amateur dramatics scene and enjoys a good pantomime! Debbie lives in Gravesend, works in West Sussex, and is mum to Samuel and Nicholas. This term’s repertoire will mostly consist of music for Christmas. We will have a busy schedule over the Christmas period, so please ensure you sign up to each event so we can make sure we have the best possible choir. We will also be working on some concert pieces for our premier concert on Tuesday 20th December. If parents would like to become involved in the choir in some capacity we will need people prepared to be CRB checked as chaperones in the future, for when we go on trips or outside concerts. Please let us know. At the present time membership of Semiquavers is free. We may in time introduce Semiquavers T-shirts for members and these will need to be paid for. When we know prices we will advise parents/guardians so that they have ample opportunity to purchase them. We look forward to singing with you at semiquavers and hope you will enjoy making music with new friends. If you have any music suggestions for the future please let us know about them by emailing us, or visiting us on facebook, using the image links below.
