Churchwardens

Peter Shearan

Peter and his wife Marian have been members of the congregation at Christ Church for the last twenty years, and have been married for fifty-three. They have five children and ten grandchildren, scattered the length and breadth of Great Britain. Peter spent over twenty years in the Regular Army, serving overseas in Egypt, Cyprus and Singapore; he then became a primary school teacher in the Medway towns, retiring in 1991. In 1999 Peter gained a BA with the Open University. His interests lie in drama (with almost 40 years “treading the boards”); local and family history, having written four books including the Christ Church history, published to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the church; and in public speaking, with a collection of five different talks. He was delighted when asked to became church warden in 2006, in time to face an interregnum and the theft of lead from part of the church roof; he has a strong conviction that what he has learnt during his varied life is being fulfilled in serving the people of Christ Church.

Christine Sewell

Christine has been Churchwarden since 2005 and before that was editor of the parish magazine for many years. She was recently a trustee of Rochester Diocese Mother’s Union and was on the committee of the Christ Church branch. She was a primary and nursery teacher and now uses those skills to entertain granddaughter, Freya. She works for husband, Martin, managing his solicitor’s practice. In her spare time she enjoys reading, travelling and the renovation of a French house which has so far taken over twenty years!
